There are two measurable solar properties to know when selecting shade fabric.
We list these specifications with each fabric.
- Visible Transmittance (Tv) measures the percentage of visible light that passes through the fabric. Fabrics with the same openness factors can differ slightly in Tv due to the reflectivity of light colors.
- How the fabric handles the solar radiation that hits it is measured by three factors. These factors measure the amount of solar radiation the the fabric either reflects or absorbs or allows to pass through. These three factors add to 100%.
Solar Transmittance (Ts)
The percentage of solar radiation that passes through the fabric
Solar Reflectance (Rs)
The percentage of solar radiation reflected back out of the fabric
Solar Absorbance (As)
The percentage of solar radiation absorbed by the fabric
